Hello 2nd-grade families,
Each Sunday, I will update our weekly blog post at 4:00pm. Here you will find important reminders, announcements, links, curriculum overview, and photos. This is my main avenue for class communication. I will also reach out by phone or email to individual families, as needed.
Mrs. Bawks will also link classroom blogs in her school blog, so there are a couple ways you can access it. You may want to bookmark it, as well, for quick reference.
I am more than happy to answer any questions and help in any way I can, so please never hesitate to reach out.
Announcements
Summer Learning Packets: If anyone has a Summer Learning packet to turn in for a gold, silver, or bronze medal - now's the time.
Parent Calendar: Click here for the district parent calendar. This (and more info) is also available on the SJPS district website.
First PTO Meeting: First PTO Meeting of the year will be THIS TUESDAY 9/15 @ 7pm. It will be virtual. See Mrs. Bawks' Brown School News! blog for the link to join.
Back to School Night: Our Back to School Night (BTSN) will be virtual this year. Look for informative BTSN info to be pushed out on 9/21.
Daily Student Health Screener: Click here for a checklist of symptoms and situations to keep a focused eye on this year. The teachers are logging daily health checks, as well. We are doubling down on health and wellness in efforts to protect our ability to meet for in-person learning. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Late Starts: We do not have a late start this week. Late start Wednesdays will begin NEXT WEEK on 9/23.
Birthdays: Your child is not expected to bring anything for their birthday. If they would like to bring a treat we are encouraging non-food items, like something you might find in a party favor bag or an individually packaged, store-bought food item. Ex: goldfish bags, cheese sticks... Homemade items will not be allowed. Please let me know if you have any questions about this classroom birthday policy.
Our Learning
Google Classroom
Our students will primarily use Google Classroom to organize their online work and keep a portfolio of their learning experiences. Students will be learning some basic features this week, including how to connect to a google hangout and locate programs/resources. Instructions will be emailed to families on Thursday, September 17th to assist families in helping their student access Classroom from home.
Brown School Classroom
This week we will continue to discuss expectations, procedures, and work on building positive relationships. We will begin setting up our routines for morning meetings, reading, writing, and math.
